GLOBAL GROUPS
Small group social, recreational, community inclusion, and life skills support for individuals ages 12 – 19 years. Participation requires a referral from MCFD.
Support areas include:
· Social and communication skills development
· Building self esteem
· Building peer relations
· Life skills (such as budgeting, cooking, transitions)
· Building independence and self direction skills
· Street and public safety

The Youth in Transition Program provides a small group social, sexual, self-care and career related education activities for youth with diverse abilities who are transitioning into adulthood, aged 14-19. Support areas include appropriate social interactions, personal, career and life management, building self-esteem, peer pressure, anger reduction and personal safety. This group is facilitated by Access Resources’ Counselor. Groups are arranged to best meet the needs of each individual and of what topics are of interest to them. If individuals are not able to be accommodated in a group setting, staff will arrange for one to one support in special circumstances.
Small group support for young adults transitioning into adulthood through completely interactive group teaching in all life skill areas. Participation by CLBC referral. Ages supported by TSN are typically 19-25 years.
Support areas include:
· Household skills
· Personal and career planning
· Relationship awareness
· Budgetary and consumer skills
· Peer pressure and anger reduction
· Personal and community safety
MAC is a small, social group for both men and women over 25 years. The program is globally funded and requires CLBC referral to participate. The focus of the group is to have fun in a mixed setting while having fun within the community. Examples of activities include trivia nights, hockey games, bowling, movie nights, cooking and games nights. MAC meets on Thursdays from 3:00pm-5:00pm and also included at least one evening activity a month.

The Ladies Day Group is designed for women with diverse abilities aged 25 and over. This program offers small group social and recreational opportunities for women once per week for two (2) hours. It is Globally Funded through CLBC and requires a referral by an individual’s facilitator. Programs may require a minimal activity cost, depending on the activity. Once an adult is referred to the Ladies Day Program, they have the option of choosing which programs to attend based on a monthly calendar.
